The compact, ruggedly built SIMCO®  2800 HS(HT) is an all hydraulic, top head drive drill rig. Available in several versions, this easy to use rig offers cost effective drilling matched to the size of the job. With the 10" stroke mast, hoisting winch and other options, the 2800 HS(HT) provides increased drilling and tool handling efficiency over other rigs in its class. Easily truck or trailer mounted this low maintenance rig can also be mounted on a variety of carriers.

A multi-purpose drill rig, the SIMCO®  2800 HS(HT) with appropriate options can be used for auger drilling, mud or air rotary drilling, core drilling and down the hole hammer drilling. Perform standard penetration tests, split spoon and Shelby tube sampling procedures with this rig. The SIMCO®  2800 HS(HT) is also capable of angle hole drilling.

General Capacity:

• Conventional flight auger- 100-200+’ with 6" borehole
• Hollow stem augers-100 ft with 6 ¼" ID, 100 -150 ft with 3 ¼-4¼" ID(using high torque drill head, subject to drilling conditions)
• Wet Rotary- 250-300 ft with 6-8" borehole, 300+ ft with 5" bore hole, (capacity subject to mud pump size, and drilling conditions)
• Core Drilling - 250 ft NQ, 500 ft AQ
• Down-the-Hole Hammer-4" holes to 250 ft

Features and Options:

SIMCO®  2800 HS(HT) - High torque tophead drive rig, truck or trailer mounted - for auger (hollow stem or conventional), wet rotary or core drilling.

1. STANDARD BASE RIG
   • Power Unit - P.T.O. Drive - Power supplied by truck engine through split-shaft style PTO. Factory mounting includes appropriate vehicle modifications and the addition of a separate hydrostatic pump for mud pump operation if required.
   • Multiple RPM Drillhead - High torque/high speed (7485 ft.lbs./0-670 RPM max). Electro-hydraulically shifts to allow operator to match output to required drilling. Lock-up feature available to keep output speeds/torques in desired range. Includes hydraulic off-hole and 2" ID hollow spindle.
   • Mast - Available in two stroke lengths (76" for short stroke, 136" for long stroke), the mast is constructed of 1/4" formed structural steel in a single piece rectangular section. The feed system is a hydraulic motor driven/#100 double roller chain system having a maximum feed rate of 100 FPM. The mast is raised by two hydraulic lift cylinders and includes a mast travel rest and provisions for adding auger guides. Also included is an adjustable height, hydraulically raised and lowered double tube mast extension with crown sheaves, and hook point for a traveling block. Extension on short stroke mast allows for pulling 10' rods, extension on long stroke mast allows for pulling 20' rods or casing. Specify mast length desired.
   • Hydraulic Off-Hole - Includes necessary hydraulics, mechanical latch and controls. This feature greatly reduces manhandling of tools by enabling the use of the winch line to add augers or rods to existing in-hole tool string. Also allows for direct access to borehole for sampling or placement of casing.
   • Hydraulic Slide Base & Wiggle Tail - All welded steel on slide frame with hydraulic controls for moving unit in and out or side to side, providing approximately 8" of in/out travel and 9" of movement either side of center. Wiggletail feature built into truckbed. Not available on trailer mounting.
   • Variable Volume Pump - Variable volume hydraulic piston pump, 0-32 GPM, 5000 PSI maximum. Provides for hydrostatic operation of rotary drill head and cathead. Swash plate control is mounted on operator control panel.
   • Auxiliary Hydraulic Pumps - For operation of other functions: Main segment - 21 GPM, 2500 PSI operates fast feed, winch, water pump, and leveling jacks. Second segment - 10 GPM, 2500 PSI operates slow feed, off-hole, slide base, and other cylinders.
   • Dual Feed - Feed Rate and Bit Pressure Controls - Includes hydraulic flow control valving for precisely varying the rate of downward speed of drill head travel and maintaining desired bit pressures. Dual controls for feed system allow feed rate and bit pressure to remain set as desired while providing for fast raising and lowering of the drill head.
   • Main Winch - 4500 lbs. cap.135 FPM max bare drum line speed, with 80' of 3/8" cable (150 ft. max cap.) Includes winch brake.

   2800 HS(HT) GEO-TECH DRILLING OPTIONS

2. 71 H.P. Turbo Diesel Deck Engine - Deutz, air cooled diesel engine with 12 V electric starting system. Includes separate hydraulic oil cooler with thermostatically controlled fan; 15 gal. fuel tank;
3. Hoisting Winch - Hydraulically operated mast mounted winches. Long stroke mast assembly accepts a second winch, short stroke mast does not.
   • Tool Handling Winch - 2550 lbs. cap./380 FPM max bare drum line speeds available with 80' of 5/16" cable.
   • Wire line Winch - 1300 lbs. 570 FPM max bare drum line speed, with up to 500' of 3/16" cable.
4. Mating Flange - with tool joint connections as desired. Specify rod size and/or auger hex sub.
   • Hex - 1-5/8" hex pin

5. U-Joint Auger Adapter - From spindle mating flange to augers
   • 1-5/8" hex box connection. Includes drive pins.
   • 3-1/4" ID H.S.A. Pin to 1-5/8" Hex Box
6. Auger Guide - Hinged type for augers up to 12" diameter. Prevents auger from "walking" when starting drilling. Guides are sized to match OD of augers (specify auger size and type).
   • For augers up to 7" OD diameter.
   • For augers larger than 7" OD
7. Cathead Hoist - The 7-½" diameter drum cathead is mast mounted, hydrostatically powered with infinitely variable speed range 0-410 RPM. Lifting capacity s 3000 lbs. Includes sheave wheel and 60’ of manila rope.
8. CME Automatic Hammer - in lieu of cathead - consult factory for details. Can only be used with the long stroke mast.
9. Probe Hammer - Attaches below drillhead, (SK-58 hammer).
10. Hydraulic Breakout Wrench - Mast mounted, hydraulically operated breakout wrench includes 36" pipe wrench and assists manual breakout of drill rod joints. Wrench pivots to provide use in either direction.
11. Rod Handling Table - Work table mounted at bottom of mast. Includes hinged rod guides (specify rod OD). Opening through center of table is 6-1/2" ID. The table supports the weight of the tool string when used in conjunction with a flat wrench and drill rods with flats or lugs. Table is pinned to mast allowing for convenient removal.
12. Hydraulic Slips/Clamps - Designed to hold flush OD drill or core rods where flats or lugs are not present. Includes hydraulic controls and serrated inserts for gripping rods. Slips are mounted beneath the rod handling table. Maximum rod OD is 5" diameter.
13. Progressing Cavity Pump - Integral to drill rig hydraulic system. Includes pump speed control, pressure gauges, pressure relief, 2-1/2" suction and 1-1/4" discharge hoses and strainer. Use for grouting and limited mud rotary drilling.

14. Water Swivels Topfeed or Side feed - For core drilling
15. 3" x 30" Hydraulic Extruder - For use with Shelby Tube Samplers. Quick release hold down clamp and separate hydraulic valve provide easy and safe operation.
16. 3800 TAH Trailer - 11,000 lb. GVW, tandem axle trailer, tire size LT 235/85R 16E. Includes 2-5/16" ball hitch, electric brakes, 12" x 10" x 72" tool box, tool racks, lights, and three hydraulic leveling jacks. Includes safety breakaway device. Trailer weight is approx. 2225 lbs.

    2800 HS (HT) MOUNTING OPTIONS

17. Drill Platform, Jacks and Mounting - Factory installation of the truck bed and drill rig include the following:
    • Truck bed - Standard size, all steel 1/8" diamond deck plate is approximately 8' x 10'9" for 84" CA trucks. Includes a fold down operators platform, a 2" ID receiver tube for a standard 2" hitch bar, bulkhead with mast rest, running lights.
    • Hydraulic leveling jacks - Two 24" stroke leveling jacks are mounted to the rear corners of the truck bed. The hydraulic cylinders are enclosed in an inner and outer steel sleeve for protection and greater stability. The jacks are plumbed to the drill rig hydraulics and include 2-way check valves.
    • Front Mounted Leveling Jack - Heavy duty jack has 24" stroke, internally mounted cylinder with 2-way check valve.
    • In-cab brake controller - Mounted under dash of truck and required on all trucks pulling trailers over 3000 lbs. GVW.
    • Safety equipment - Federally mandated safety equipment required with all truck mounted rigs includes fire extinguisher (mounted in-cab) and safety triangle kit.
18. Under Deck Tool Boxes - Heavy duty, lockable tool boxes are securely mounted underneath steel drill platform. Standard size is 18" x 18" x 48". Other sizes are available.
19. Under Deck Auger Racks - Two tiered heavy duty auger racks hold up to 40' of 3 1/4" ID hollow stem auger on a typical 84" CA truck mounting. Includes holding pins to secure the augers during transport.
20. On-Deck Auger Stanchion - Assembly is bolted to deck to hold augers. Includes tie down loops.
21. Tool Box - A lockable tool box (12" x 10" x 72") mounted on-deck holds 5' rods, augers, and other tools.
