The compact, ruggedly built SIMCO®  2800 HS(HT) is an all hydraulic, top head drive drill rig. Available in several versions, this easy to use rig offers cost effective drilling matched to the size of the job. With the 10" stroke mast, hoisting winch and other options, the 2800 HS(HT) provides increased drilling and tool handling efficiency over other rigs in its class. Easily truck or trailer mounted this low maintenance rig can also be mounted on a variety of carriers.

A multi-purpose drill rig, the SIMCO®  2800 HS(HT) with appropriate options can be used for auger drilling, mud or air rotary drilling, core drilling and down the hole hammer drilling. Perform standard penetration tests, split spoon and Shelby tube sampling procedures with this rig. The SIMCO®  2800 HS(HT) is also capable of angle hole drilling.

General Capacity:

• Conventional flight auger- 100-200+’ with 6" borehole
• Hollow stem augers-100 ft with 6 1/4" ID, 100 -150 ft with 3 ¼-41/4" ID(using high torque drill head, subject to drilling conditions)
• Wet Rotary- 250-300 ft with 6-8" borehole, 300+ ft with 5" bore hole, (capacity subject to mud pump size, and drilling conditions)
• Core Drilling - 250 ft NQ, 500 ft AQ
• Down-the-Hole Hammer-4" holes to 250 ft

Features and Options:
SIMCO®  2800 HS(HT) - Tophead drive rig, truck or trailer mounted - for auger, wet rotary or core drilling.

1. STANDARD BASE RIG
   • Power Unit - P.T.O. Drive - Power supplied by truck engine through split-shaft style PTO. Factory mounting includes appropriate vehicle modifications and the addition of a separate hydrostatic pump for mud pump operation if required.
   • Hydrostatic Drive, Hollow Spindle Drill Head - Single speed and torque range (2840 ft. lbs. max/0-185 RPM). Has a 2" ID hollow spindle.
   • Mast - The mast is constructed of 1/4" formed structural steel in a single piece rectangular section with 136 inches of stroke. The feed system is a hydraulic motor driven/#100 double roller chain system having a maximum feed rate of 100 FPM. The mast is raised by two hydraulic lift cylinders and includes a mast travel rest and provisions for adding auger guides, a rod table and breakout wrench. Also included is an adjustable height, hydraulically raised and lowered double tube mast extension with crown sheaves that allows for pulling 20' rods or casing. A mast rod guide is mounted on the helper’s side of the mast.
   • Hydraulic Off-Hole - Includes necessary hydraulics, mechanical latch and controls. This feature greatly reduces manhandling of tools by enabling the use of the winch line to add augers or rods to existing in-hole tool string. Also allows for direct access to borehole for sampling or placement of casing.
   • Hydraulic Slide Base - All welded steel on slide frame with hydraulic controls for moving unit in and out of truck. Max. travel length 8".
   • Variable Volume Pumps - Variable volume hydraulic piston pump, 0-32 GPM, 5000 PSI maximum. Provides for hydrostatic operation of rotary drill head and mud pump. Swash plate controls are mounted on operator control panel.
   • Auxiliary Hydraulic Pumps - For operation of other functions: Main segment - 21 GPM, 2500 PSI operates fast feed, winch, water pump, and leveling jacks. Second segment - 10 GPM, 2500 PSI operates slow feed, off-hole, slide base, and other cylinders.
   • Dual Feed - Feed Rate and Bit Pressure Controls - Includes hydraulic flow control valving for precisely varying the rate of downward speed of drill head travel and maintaining desired bit pressures. Dual controls for feed system allow feed rate and bit pressure to remain set as desired while providing for fast raising and lowering of the drill head.
   • Main Winch - 4500 lbs. cap.135 FPM max bare drum line speed, with 80' of 3/8" cable (150 ft. max cap.) Includes winch brake.
   • Tool Handling Winch - 2550 lbs. cap./380 FPM max bar drum line speed, available with 80’ of 5/16" cable. Does not have a winch brake.
   • Breakout Wrench - Mast mounted, hydraulically operated breakout wrench includes 36" pipe wrench and assists manual breakout of drill rod joints. Wrench pivots to provide use in either direction.
   • Split-Rod Handling Table - with flat wrench, includes rod guides (specify rod OD). Flat wrench is stored on the table between rod changes. Table splits open to allow easy pipe and casing installation.
   • Mating Flange - with saver sub - specify tool joint.
   • Plumbing Tree - Located next to the valve panel and within easy reach of the operator. This assembly contains the shut-off valves for the surface plumbing/hoses from the mud pump/air compressor to the water swivel. Includes connection for mud gun mixer and appropriate pressure gauges.
   • Topdfeed Water Swivel - For mud rotary, has 2" ID.
2. 2800 HS(HT) STANDARD OPTIONS
   • 54 H.P. Diesel Engine - Deutz, air cooled diesel engine with 12 V electric starting system. Includes separate hydraulic oil cooler with thermostatically controlled fan; 15 gal. fuel tank; full load fuel consumption - 3.0 GPH.
   • 71 H.P. Turbo Diesel Deck Engine - Deutz 4 cyl. turbo diesel provides additional power necessary for running some options. Required when multiple RPM drillhead is used.
3. 2800 HS(HT) WET ROTARY OPTIONS
   • 2 x 3 Centrifugal Mud Pump - For mud rotary drilling larger diameter and/or deeper bore holes. Mud pump is hydrostatically driven and includes water pressure gauge, suction hose, and foot valve with mechanical seal. Requires split shaft PTO setup with a separate hydrostatic drive system. Not available with deck engines. Typical pump performance as rated by pump manufacturer with clear water is up to 300 gpm/180 psi.
   • 4-1/2 x 5 Piston Mud Pump - (rebuilt) - Hydrostatically driven mud pump includes pump speed controls, water pressure gauge, and suction hose with strainer. Typical output capacity is 120 GPM/195 PSI. (This pump cannot be mounted with a 2800 rig on a 3800 trailer.)
4. 2800 HS(HT) AIR ROTARY/D.T.H. HAMMER DRILLING OPTIONS
   • Water Injection System - Water and foam injection for dust control and assisting air compressor with chip removal, uses BEAN pump AO41OC, 0-5.3 GPM at 750 PSI.
   • Oil Injection System - Provides 0-2 quarts per hour as needed for lubrication of the down-the-hole hammer. Reservoir capacity of 8 gallons of lubricating oil.
   • Shut-Off Valve - on plumbing tree for air hose input.
5. 2800 HS(HT) MOUNTING OPTIONS
   Drill Platform, Rear Jacks and Mounting - Factory installation of the truck bed and drill rig include the following:
   • Truck bed - Standard size, all steel 1/8" diamond deck plate is approximately 8' x 10'9" for 84" CA trucks. Includes a fold down operators platform, a 2" ID receiver tube for a standard 2" hitch bar, bulkhead with mast rest, running lights.
   • Front Mounted Leveling Jack - Heavy duty jack has 24" stroke, internally mounted cylinder with 2-way check valve.
   • Hydraulic leveling jacks - Two 24" stroke leveling jacks are mounted to the rear corners of the truck bed. The hydraulic cylinders are enclosed in an inner and outer steel sleeve for protection and greater stability. The jacks are plumbed to the drill rig hydraulics and include 2-way check valves.
   • In-cab brake controller - Mounted under dash of truck and required on all trucks pulling trailers over 3000 lbs. GVW.
   • Safety equipment - Federally mandated safety equipment required with all truck mounted rigs includes fire extinguisher (mounted in-cab) and safety triangle kit.
   • Vertical exhaust and minor truck modifications.
6. Under Deck Tool Boxes - Heavy duty, lockable tool boxes are securely mounted underneath steel drill platform. Standard size is 18" x 18" x 48". Other sizes are available.
7. Rod Box - Heavy duty rod box for holding 10' lengths of drill rod.
8. On-deck Tool Box - (12"x10"x72")
